WINTER WEATHER RETURNS TO VALLEY

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS WINTER WEATHER IS RETURNING TO THE VALLEY AREA AND WESTERN MAINE FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 2013.

FORECASTERS HAVE ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 11 A.M. FRIDAY UNTIL 2 A.M. SATURDAY.

THE ADVISORY AREA INCLUDES CARROLL AND COOS COUNTIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE – AND SOUTHERN OXFORD AND CUMBERLAND COUNTIES IN MAINE.

FORECASTERS SAY SNOW AND SLEET WILL MIX WITH RAIN DURING THE PERIOD WITH POCKETS OF FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE.

SNOW AND SLEET COULD ACCUMULATE UP TO AN INCH – AS WELL AS A TRACE OF ICE.

THE SNOW AND SLEET IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD ACROSS THE AREA AROUND MIDDAY FRIDAY AND CHANGE TO MAINLY SLEET IN THE AFTERNOON.

FORECASTERS SAY PERIODS OF SNOW, SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS. THEY CAUTION TO BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES – AND TO USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
