OSSIPEE PD: TWO ARRESTED, ONE ESCAPED OVER WEEKEND

OSSIPEE POLICE SAY TWO PEOPLE FROM OSSIPEE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH VARIOUS DRUG OFFENSES AFTER A NEARLY 4-MONTH INVESTIGATION INTO THE POSSESSION AND SALE OF HEROIN.

DETECTIVE SGT. BOB KING SAYS OSSIPEE OFFICERS – WITH HELP FROM THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE AND CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – EXECUTED A SEARCH WARRANT FRIDAY ABOUT 10:30 A.M. AT 220 CHICKVILLE RD. IN OSSIPEE.

KING SAYS 49-YEAR-OLD CURT DOW WAS IN HIS VEHICLE AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE SWAT TEAM WHILE 35-YEAR-OLD ALICE CALL DOW WAS ARRESTED AT HER HOME.

CURT DOW IS CHARGED WITH HALF A DOZEN COUNTS ALLEGING THE SALE, INTENT TO SELL AND POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED/NARCOTIC DRUGS – AND ONE COUNT ALLEGING FELON IN POSSESSION OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON – AND ALICE CALL DOW IS CHARGED WITH FOUR COUNTS ALLEGING THE SALE, POSSESSION AND INTENT TO SELL CONTROLLED/NARCOTIC DRUGS.

BOTH ARE SCHEDULED TO BE ARRAIGNED IN AN OSSIPEE CIRCUIT COURT MONDAY AFTERNOON.

OSSIPEE POLICE CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR A 29-YEAR-OLD ROCHESTER MAN WHO GOT AWAY FROM THEM SUNDAY NEAR THE DOW HOME WHEN THEY RETURNED TO CONDUCT A ROUTINE SECURITY CHECK.

KING SAYS AROUND 7:45 A.M. SUNDAY OSSIPEE OFFICERS SAW A MAN IN THE AREA THEY RECOGNIZED AS 29-YEAR-OLD JAMES BROOKS, WHO IS WANTED ON AN ACTIVE WARRANT.

KING SAYS INITIAL RESPONDERS HEARD A METALLIC SOUND THEY THOUGHT MAY HAVE BEEN A WEAPON BEING LOADED AND BACKUP UNITS WERE CALLED IN.

BROOKS APPARENTLY ESCAPED INTO A NEARBY SWAMP AND DESPITE A MULTI-AGENCY SEARCH THAT INCLUDED NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE, OFFICERS FROM THE CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AND POLICE FROM TAMWORTH, TUFTONBORO, WAKEFIELD AND WOLFEBORO – AND THE USE OF K-9 DOGS FOR SEVERAL HOURS – HE COULD NOT BE LOCATED.

BROOKS IS DESCRIBED AS BEING ABOUT FIVE FEET NINE INCHES TALL, 150 POUNDS WITH BROWN EYES AND BROWN HAIR. HE’S WANTED FOR ALLEGED DRUG ACTIVITY AND RESISTING ARREST. KING SAYS HE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED POSSIBLY ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

ANYONE WHO SEES BROOKS OR HAS INFORMATION ABOUT HIM IS ASKED TO CALL THE NEAREST POLICE DEPARTMENT.
