EAST CONWAY LUMBER COMPANY WOOD LOT VANDALIZED

CONWAY POLICE ESTIMATE THE DAMAGE FROM VANDALISM TO EQUIPMENT BELONGING TO AN EAST CONWAY LOGGING COMPANY RUNS INTO THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

DETECTIVE SGT. AL BROYER SAYS A WORKER ARRIVING AT A WOOD LOT OFF HALEYTOWN ROAD IN FRYEBURG, MAINE EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING DISCOVERED TWO LOGGING SKIDDER MACHINES HAD BEEN STARTED UP AND RAMMED INTO OTHER LOGGING MACHINES IN THE LOT.

THE LOT STRADDLES THE MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE BORDER AND A LARGE SECTION OF IT IS IN CENTER CONWAY. IT IS OWNED BY FADDEN LOGGING AND CHIPPING, INCORPORATED.

OWNER TOM FADDEN SAYS AT LEAST ONE BULLDOZER WAS WRECKED AND THERE’S QUITE A LOT OF DAMAGE. FADDEN DECLINED TO COMMENT FURTHER UNTIL HIS INSURANCE COMPANY CAN ASSESS THE DAMAGE.

BROYER SAYS THE VANDALS ALSO KNOCKED OVER TREES OF NEIGHBORING LANDOWNERS AS THEY DROVE THE SKIDDERS THROUGH THE WOODS.
