Believe In Books Youth Theatre Summer Camps Starts Monday, June 29th! Sign Up Now!

Believe In Books’ Youth Theatre Director Nate Sawyer gave Gino a call last week and the two discussed the opening of the Believe In Books Youth Theatre Summer Camp in the 100 Acre Wood. The week-long sessions start on Monday, June 29th and will go through until August 21st. Nate explains all the safety guidelines that the theatre will be following in order to make sure all campers and staff are safe. Plus, he gives us a full rundown of all the shows. Click below to listen and check out the details too!

Logistics: Camp takes place at the Theater in the Wood. Where we use the theater, the theater stage, lobby, and the outside property for all our rehearsals and camp activities. Kids ages 7-14 come prepared to have fun filled days including acting, singing, dancing, crafting, creating, playing games, listening to and reading stories, and enjoying the fresh outdoors! Campers are asked to provide their own sack lunch, as well as a small snack for later in the day. Registration will close one week prior to each camp.

Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:45 am and 9:15 am, drop off will occur at the top of the stairs in the upper theater parking lot.  Drop offs will occur with one camper/one family at a time. Pick up will occur Monday through Thursday between 4:00 pm and 4:15 pm in the same fashion. Once all campers arrive, we start our planned activities & rehearsals! Throughout the day we have blocks dedicated to learning a foundation of:

Auditioning – Campers will learn a dance, sing a song, and read some lines alongside other campers of similar ages, and will be cast appropriately for age & ability!

Acting – Once roles are announced, campers will rehearse scenes from the performance;

Dance – Campers will learn dances that will take place in their show;

Music – where we learn how music can enhance a piece of work, and work on songs featured in our performance (in the form of tracked music)

Games – Some fun theater & camp inspired games to make playtime, fun and inventive

Story Time – where we can read & share stories and talk about the art of storytelling

Outdoor Adventure – Where campers are taken out on our fantastic trail system for some interaction with nature.

Camp Performances: Camp performances happen @5PM on the last Friday of camp. Camp performances are ticketed events and are open to the general public for $5/person. (Each Camper receives 1 complimentary ticket for distribution, to their show.) All tickets must be purchased online prior to arriving at the Theater in the Wood.

In addition to the above-mentioned activities, tuition also includes:

– A Complimentary Ticket to see the Theatre Camp Show at the end of the week

– A Camp Buff

– Supplies for Costumes, Props, Sets and Projects throughout the week that will aid in their performances
